319 million barrels of oil leaking Gulf of Mexico

After a lengthy trial after a federal judge ruled in 2010 after the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon drilling equipment, oil giant BP’s total to 319 million barrels of oil leaking into the Gulf of Mexico. This figure is lower than the US government prosecutors estimated 420 million barrels, but higher than the previous estimate of 245 million barrels of BP.

The European Parliament recently passed laws allowing the approval of EU member states on their own, to prohibit or restrict the cultivation of genetically modified crops in their territory.
