NASA Kepler found supermassive black holes

The latest research shows that Brigham Young University, charged with the task of finding a new planet satellites between two constellations Cygnus and Lyra, accidentally discovered a supermassive black hole. The study, published in the latest issue of “Astrophysical Journal.”

This is called a distant black hole located within the KA 1858 galaxies. Researchers are observed in the United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and help astrophysicist at the University of California under. It is estimated that the black hole’s mass is about 800 times the mass of the sun around.

Initially, the main task of NASA’s Kepler satellite is in our galaxy to find Earth-like planets. However, in this study, the researchers were able to data from the Kepler mission and ground-based observation of a black hole characteristic data together. Western Hills Observatory in BYU, Utah’s largest observatory made many ground-based observations.

According to physicist organizational networks recently reported, the study’s co-author, Professor Michael said: “This is a long-term project involving many observers in different parts of the world as measured by BYU finished, you can determine the galactic center black hole. quality is about 800 times the mass of the sun, this is a real great object. ”

Astronomers measure the radiation through different types of objects, and because the black hole does not emit any radiation energy, it is difficult to measure. To this end, Michael and graduate, the study co-author Carol Lohr use a method called reverberation mapping.

Reverberation mapping includes a spiral toward the light emitted by black holes observed substances. Different distances from the center of the light and re-emit light near the gas interaction, these light group arrived at the ground telescopes within days. Researchers analyzing the time difference, and how to measure these substances are quickly moving around the galactic center, it is possible to determine the mass of the central black hole.
